[Ebook reader of The Purloined Letter]The Purloined Letter is a short story by Edgar Allan Poe, published in December 1844. In this short story we find the knight Auguste Dupin, who appeared in Double Assassination in the Rue Morgue.SummaryDetective Auguste Dupin is informed by G..., the Paris police prefect, that a letter of the greatest importance has been stolen from the royal boudoir. The precise moment of the theft and the thief, D..., are known to the policeman, but he is unable to accuse the culprit. Despite extremely careful searches carried out at the thiefs home, G... was in fact unable to find the letter. Getting their hands on the latter is, however, of great importance, because its owner finds himself in a position to exert pressure on the member of the royal family from whom he stole it. G... therefore ends up asking Dupin for help. A few weeks later, Dupin returned the letter to the prefect. He then explains to the narrator how certain simple principles allowed him to find the letter. (Audiobook)
